A satirical attack on West Germany's re-armament and revival of militaristic tradition in the Adenauer era.

Basically, 'Herakles' is an omnium-gatherum of film clips depicting images of machismo. Some of those images are explicitly macho: we see various body-builders flexing their biceps and triceps. Other images seen here are not macho in the literal sense, but are indirectly related to testosterone or cojones on some level: we see military aircraft making bombing raids, and footage of car crashes.

A film consisting of seven episodes directed by young West German filmmakers, some of whom were signatories of the famous Oberhausen Manifesto. The film focuses on the sometimes highly dramatic fates of young girls.

Geiersberg Castle in Spessart is a popular hotel for married couples and lovers. The buxom landlady isn't averse to anything and even the quirky valet Beppo takes what he can get. It is also interesting to note that the last count and countess, who were summoned to their ancestors at a very young age, still haunt the halls. A special attraction for visitors is the nearby spa station of the shepherd Astloch, whose cures have a very invigorating effect on certain parts of the body. In the Spessart, people not only sing and rob, but also indulge in physical pleasures.

A young man named Jürgen joins the military. As much as he tries to make a heroic career as a soldier in a rearmed West Germany, he fails utterly and ends up in a bizarre sanatorium.

T. finds a letter. Instead of just dropping it in a mailbox, he decides, conscientious as he is, to deliver it personally. He wanders the entire world, discovers astounding forms of existence, but cannot be hindered from his duty and keeps looking until he finally finds the address. There, he finds out that he has delivered his own judgment.

A short documentary in the form of a mock-info-travelogue of Hitler’s mountain retreats Berghof and the Eagle’s Nest at Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden.
