The film is a family drama about a man whose past love causes problems in his current relationship and leads to misunderstandings.

LAL (Mohanlal) and his gang puts up posters and writings of Shyam (Rajkumar) and Swapna(Poornima Jayaram) in the college campus announcing their love affair, leading to a quarrel with Suresh(Shanker), her brother.

Annie, a typist, unknowingly attracts the affections of Daniel, her employer. However, things go terribly wrong when she marries a wealthy businessman named Tony.

Appu (Nedumudi) is struggling to make ends meet while doing odd jobs and trying to find a more stable job. In the meanwhile he meets Amminikutty (Madhavi) with whom he falls in love. He however lies to her and makes her believe that he has a well paying government job. In the meanwhile Amminikutty's cousin, Das (Mammotty) arrives in town to further complicate Appu's plans.

Murthy saves Indira from Vyasaraya, who plans to sell her, but on the way to her home, Murthy is hit by Vyasaraya's car and Indira gets kidnapped. Murthy tries to do everything he can to save her.

He is a successful person in business but his personal life lacks harmony and peace. Tortured by his wife Madhavi and her mother, he finds life miserable. Meanwhile, his opponents cannot digest his success in business and plan to stop him from getting yet another business deal. Here, he meets Nagaraju (Chiranjeevi), who is a small-time thief.
