Autumn Words tells the story of a long-cherished wish of a young Romanian music student to fulfill his mother's dreams of studying music in China. He travels to Han Zhong to study music, mets a Chinese girl and falls in love. While this unravels, his girlfriend from Romania, makes an impromptu decision to join him in China. Unable to communicate and with no way to find him, she befriends a local taxi driver and martial arts teacher who help her on her quest to find him.

The film mainly tells the difficult and painful journey of a single mother seeking medical treatment for her dreaming son to treat her disabled legs. It mainly highlights the positive energy of big dreams gathered by small people, and reflects real social life more down-to-earth, involving family education, women and children, traffic safety, medical accidents and other aspects of adhering to the dream of emotional inspirational life.

In 19th-century China, during the corrupt Qing Dynasty, the people are suffering at the hands of greedy landlords, crooked officials, and unwelcome invaders.
