When he returns after the war he finds his former assistant not only in control of the mine but the whole town. His former partners have fled becoming outlaws and are now robbing the mine shipments of money they believe is really theirs.

The arrival of Folsom and Gloria threatens to break up their marriage, and Colette prevents a fight between the two men by wounding Folsom, causing the latter to come to his senses and teaching his wife a lesson.

Millionaire Daddy Warbucks goes bust in the Great Depression and is forced to abandon his adopted daughter, Annie. While he's out west working on another fortune, Annie finds an orphaned boy on the streets and helps him find a home.

The gang forms a fire department; they end up thwarting a bootlegger, but not before their pet animals get drunk on his moonshine.
