Eastern Croatian front, December 1991. Famed violinist Ivan Lesjak, his best friend and their travelling band perform for the exhausted soldiers on the frontlines. During one of these private concerts, the camp they're staying in is bombareded by Serbian forces. In the midst of the chaos, Ivan's best friend looses and arm and dies from his injuries soon after. Traumtized by what he saw, Ivan decides to leave the country and keep his parents company in their viennese apartment, however, the lights and crowds of the metropolis further increase his anxiety, until he meets Marina, another Croatian refugee who came to work in Austria as a nurse.

In the mid-1950s, an unnamed convict succsesfully manages to escape from the Goli Otok prison island, seeking shelter in a monastery on the nearby island of Rab and striking a kinship with one of the nuns in it. However, upon further investigation, she discovers that Vera is now involved in the workings of a secret separatist organization, that steals organs from wounded Croatian veterans.

On the way to prison he listens to the news on radio about the abolition of agricultural cooperatives.

Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1890. A group of high-school students run away on an adventure that ends in scandal. The film was created based on the stories of Marino Zurl, head of humanitarian action of the weekly Arena newspapers, who from 1963 to 1971 was looking for the next of kin of children separated from their parents during World War II and taken to camps and shelters. Many of them later grew up in orphanages or foster families, like the three main characters of this film, Ana (Biserka Ipša), Nenad (Mustafa Nadarević) and Toma (Božidar Orešković). Each of them relates in a different way to the past and the possibility that, as young accomplished adults, they can finally solve the secret of their identity and meet members of their real families.
