Living only with her elderly father, Krystyna runs the household and works as a modest clerk. However, her fate takes a turn. Filmed shortly before the outbreak of World War II, Żołnierz Królowej Madagaskaru is the only Polish film allowed by German occupiers to be completed. Its last known surviving copy was destroyed in the late 1940s. In 1958, Zarzycki remade the film in color under the same title.

The film picks up the story of the brilliant surgeon-turned–folk healer from the beloved “Znachor” and “Profesor Wilczur,” this time with its original author, Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz, co-writing the screenplay and even appearing on screen as the tale’s own chronicler. Considered lost.
