A doctor working on finding a substance that would inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer learns that he has cancer. He decides to try an unproven drug on himself.

Szczepan Zadra, a Polish expatriate living permanently in Sweden, maintains close ties with his homeland while working as a representative for an international transport company. Meanwhile, the Polish militia receives reports of a smuggling operation involving valuable icons being transported to Sweden. Szczepan meets Agata, a Polish woman on a business trip to Sweden, who agrees to deliver a small package to Stockholm for an antique dealer in Warsaw. Unbeknownst to her, the package contains a valuable icon.

Westerplatte is a small peninsula at the entry to the Gdańsk Harbour. Before World War II, it functioned as a Polish ammunition depot in the Free City of Danzig. Its crew consisted of one infantry company and a group of civilians, 182 people in total. It was the only Polish guard-post at the mouth of the Vistula River, with as little as five sentries, one field cannon, two anti-armour guns and four mortars. The first shots of World War II were fired there. This film tells the story of Westerplatte's courageous defenders.

He also tries to revive old love affair using the violinist as a surrogate of her mother. Her husband is resentful of the conductor for both personal and professional reasons.

Unconventional methods, which are used in pastoral work, raise many doubts about his superiors. Surprisingly, however, his life undergoes a sudden transformation when routine testing finds out that he is HIV positive.

Jan weds his mentally ill wife Joanna at her insistence, but her increasing dependence on sedatives, and the clandestine extra pills supplied by Jan, their son Piotr and Jan’s friend Maria, leads to Joanna’s fatal overdose. On the way the little girl meets an accountant named Claus who has stolen a huge amount of money. He is being chased by a bunch of bumbling hoodlums.

A young landowner, fascinated by billiard, falls into the trap of gambling

After only a few years of training, the top student at the fishing school is appointed captain of a fishing vessel. The experienced crew of the Orion - a bunch of old sea dogs - openly show their dislike for the new captain, a youngster with no experience. The conflict deepens as a result of the captain's "bad luck"—the ship is not catching fish even in places where it used to catch a lot. It is only when the captain discovers the cause, which is a malfunction of one of the devices, that he is fully rehabilitated in the eyes of the crew.

A young man, Kuba, is returning from the army. At home, an image of misery and despair remains: the father is seriously ill, and the mother has become emotionally attached to the man who exploits her and intends to take over the farm.
