In a small italian town everyone's waiting for the event of the year: the living chess game with a near town.

Freddy and Dodò are two forty-something holiday resort entertainers. Their Africa consists of costumes, games, antics, postcard-perfect scenery, and—above all—that anthropological species known as "vacationers." When they crash-land a small plane amidst desert dunes, they discover an Africa defined by sacrifice, solidarity, and suffering.

Pina Acciai, a fortune teller dedicated to usury, is found dead in her apartment with her skull smashed in. The police try to shed light on the matter and discover that all the tenants of the building could have a motive.
