Véronique Lanier runs one of the most highly rated haute couture houses in Paris. Her first partner is her husband Pierre, who has left aside a promising artist career to design the styles which make their firm a success. The trouble is that Véronique lives only for her job and does not allow herself -and her husband for that matter - a moment's respite. In Cannes, Pierre meets Wanda, a young singer with strange, fascinating eyes. The frustrated husband falls for her but gradually realizes that the light mercurial creature cannot possibly fulfill him. Véronique, feeling miserable, understands she is on the wrong track. She promises Pierre that she will make efforts to reconcile work and married life. Véronique and Pierre will live and work together again, each one forgiving the other for their faults.

Madame Andromèze's diamond bracelet has been stolen from the plane taking Nicole from Rome to Paris. Slipped by the thief into her bag, the bracelet undergoes many vicissitudes... Found and appraised, it is declared a fake! Nicole's brother and fiancé chase after the real bracelet, disrupting the life of a grand palace. Finally, Madame Andromèze finds her bracelet, which has been declared genuine. The original thief resurfaces and steals the jewel again.

In late 19th century France, the Countess Louise, wife of a wealthy general, sells the earrings her husband gave her on their wedding day to pay off her secret debts, then claims to have lost them. Her husband quickly learns of the deceit, which is the beginning of many tragic misunderstandings, all involving the earrings, the general, the countess, and her new lover, the Italian Baron Donati.

In this riot of frantic disguises and mistaken identities, Victor Pivert, a blustering, bigoted French factory owner, finds himself taken hostage by Slimane, an Arab rebel leader. The two dress up as rabbis as they try to elude not only assasins from Slimane's country, but also the police, who think Pivert is a murderer. Pivert ends up posing as Rabbi Jacob, a beloved figure who's returned to France for his first visit after 30 years in the United States. Adding to the confusion are Pivert's dentist-wife, who thinks her husband is leaving her for another woman, their daughter, who's about to get married, and a Parisian neighborhood filled with people eager to celebrate the return of Rabbi Jacob.

Clodo, a gentle mongrel dog, isn't having much luck. His shaggy appearance has earned him the name of hobo. Often scolded by his Parisian masters for being a nuisance, his only consolation is Cathy, his youngest daughter. Unfortunately, she can't stop her parents from abandoning Clodo at vacation time. Fabien, a young farmer, takes the dog in, despite the hostility of his family. Fabien is secretly in love with his childhood friend, Arlène, "la demoiselle du château", who has left to study in Paris. But she returns home after a disappointment. Their relationship resumes.

A young French, Vignerte, is hired in the court of Lautenberg, an imaginary land, as the young Prince's private teacher and as the Grand Duchess' reader.

Lola Montes, previously a great adventuress, is reduced to being the attraction of a circus after having been the lover of various important men.
