The film tells about Marina Albi, a famous American woman who has been living for twenty years in Russia. She undertakes a spiritual trip to the Russian province to find 'the Heart of Russia'. It is with her eyes that we see the beauties and the joys of small Russian towns and villages, as well as their sufferings and problems. The goal of her trip is to find explanations: "What is one's own life?" "How to live one's own life?" In the end of the film, she meets someone and this great meeting reveals to her simple and great truths.

The film speaks about universal themes of love, hate and search for love. The portrait of three women represents these three states. Tanya Neubivko has never been in love but optimistically is searing for it. Her unfortunate and even dangerous encounters with strangers on dates almost got her killed. Rita is happily engaged and planning a wedding after a routine medical check-up. Nadya is a very unhappy doctor who hates her husband and finds relief in alcohol. The story takes place in a surreal hospital with the leaking roof and hollow walls and constantly smoking doctors, where Rita is destined to die.

The film is about a man whose works and the name itself have been under a strict ban for a long time. Ivan Solonevich is a Russian thinker, politician, writer, publicist and at the same time an outstanding athlete, vice-champion of the Russian Empire, one of the creators of the Sambo wrestling. All the activities of Solonevich, all his energy were directed to the fight against the inhuman system of power that arose in Russia after 1917.

Alex is a fashionable showbiz character. One day he comes across an article about a big win in a casino in colonial Cambodia in a French magazine with a vintage photograph. In the photo, Hero recognizes his grandfather, who everyone thought was dead. He asks his former lover, the French cultural attaché, to find out. It turns out that he has an inheritance waiting for him in Paris for many years. The guardian of the inheritance turns out to be a high-ranking Freemason who tells him the story of his grandfather, gives him the winnings and involves him in a Masonic conspiracy.

The military blockade of Leningrad by German, Finnish and Spanish troops with the participation of volunteers from North Africa, France, Italy, Poland and other countries lasted from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944 — 872 days. The war is moving further away from us. It is incomprehensible to us, living now, how it was possible to survive in those conditions? And not just survive, but act, work, invent, create? The answer is always the same – Faith, Hope, Love... with them, a person reaches the limits of his abilities. We are alive thanks to them. Those who died – by their martyrdom. Those who survived – by their feat.

A requiem for a Russian peasant woman, Maria Semionovna Voinova. The film is in two chapters. The first chapter consists of an impression of Maria Semionovna, scenes of the colours of summer time: hay–making, bathing in a river, work in the flax fields and a holiday in the Crimea. The second chapter, set nine years later, is in black and white and deals with how Maria Semionovna's life ended. The mood is one of a sad and elegiac narration.

The manifestation and fireworks on the 1st of May, one of the ritual celebrations of Soviet times, as a gathering of tired participants of a mass scene falling into pieces without the director's orders and without any aims.

The picture is about the anti-Hitler coalition of the USSR, England and America, which developed as a counterweight to the aggressive policy of Nazi Germany during the Second World War. The unique newsreel footage of these years, shot by operators of different warring countries, is connected with today's thoughts of the author about the fate of the post-war world, about the humanitarian losses of both sides and about gaining unstable hopes for the unity of the world in countering evil.
