"Arpa-colla" in Greek literally means "Grab and stick", a phrase used to show something that has been done quickly and therefore isn't good enough. This is what the 2 main heroes of the film are doing. The one is a director(Giorgos) and the other an author(Kostas) with communistic ideas, who has won a prize at a festival. They both want to make a movie for the cinema. But every idea they have never comes true, because every time they meet someone to whom they tell their idea, they change their mind, and they want to make a totally different movie, ideas varying from political cinema to Greek historical dramas and modern films with motorcycle gangs. Not a bad attempt for the Greek cinema of the early 80's, which starts to wake up from the hibernation of the 70's.

This is a series of intersecting stories. A petty crook and former lover of a lazy ingénue steals the box-office receipts from the Odeon of Herodus Atticus, on the day an important football game is also taking place. There is also the story of the half-mad mother of the ingénue who refuses to put shoes on because she believes that shoes lead people astray. An eccentric grave-digger produces a two-seater coffin for couple-victims of car accidents. The film also tells the story of one of the Odeon's cleaning women and of a watermelon that goes all around the city, pursued by a tired theater technician and his sister, who is a tour guide. The impresario conducts an inquiry after the theft, but the thief and his two associates, the ingénue and the technician, use what was stolen to set up a small theatre. Small everyday stories and comic incidents combine to create a portrait of modern-day Athens.

Looking forward to seeing his daughter, Maro, again, Antonis Papastafidas, a wealthy landowner from Amaliada, decides to pay her a visit in Athens. However, Maro, a beautiful medical student, is fine on her own. After all, she has a close friend: the spirited, voluptuous temptress, Pelagia "Peggy" Katsikogianni. Of course, it doesn't take long for Antonis to become infatuated with Peggy. Now, the grizzled Casanova must have her. But, what would Maro think of her naughty father?

Eleana is in love with her boss Lefteris, but she knows she doesn't stand much of a chance with him. One day, Lefteris asks her out on a date. Eleana is excited because she thinks this date will be the end of her suffering, but it turns out to be the beginning of her great adventure.
