A short film based on the story by Valentin Rasputin.

Matyora is a small village on a beautiful island with the same name. The existence of the village is threatened with flooding by the construction of a dam. This is the story of the inhabitants of Matyora and their farewell to their homeland.

The action takes place during the Great Patriotic War. In the last year of the war, Andrei returns to his native village. But he does not return as a hero, but as a deserter, who, after being wounded, failed to make it back to his military unit from the hospital. Only one person knows that Andrei has returned – his wife, Nastya, the only one to whom Andrei can entrust his life. Nastya is forced to hide her husband even from their relatives, only occasionally visiting him in his hiding place. Andrei is now a perpetual fugitive, doomed to loneliness.

Actions of the movie occurred in Post-WWII years in small village. Mother with three children. Father was lost in the war, like many other. 11-year old son rather smart boy is main help in housekeeping. But here was primary school only, and he was sent to study to neighbor village over 50 km. He lives with his mother's friend - woman and two children. Mother brought food one time per 3 weeks, and he cooks and eats separately from householders. To buy more food he plays game 'money'. He was beaten by older boys – usual child's cruelty.

Anna and Nikolai meet many years later. In their youth, they loved each other, but life separated them.

Based on Valentin Rasputin's story of the same title. The winter of 1945. In a village on the Angara embankment the women wait the return of their husbands from the front. The young soldier Andrei Guskov, who fled from the hospital, returns as a deserter. In his remote winter hut only his wife Nastena visits him : she is the only person whom he can trust with his life - of an eternal fugitive doomed to loneliness. Only she loves him. She lives in the present, remembers the past and does not believe in the future. She will have a child, and to the entire village she is an unfaithful wife who did not wait for her husband to return...

A television film based on the story of the same name by Valentin Rasputin. The hunter Vasil kills the bear. The surviving bear rushes to the hunter and gets injured. And now the abominable wounded beast pursues man.
