Peter Poulsen

A comedy about the everydaylife of the 30-year-old something nurse Henriette and her life. Her boyfriend is boring and she has an affair with a violent doctor. She shares an apartment with a gay man and she is close with her brother who is a somewhat insecure and love-seeking guy. However, after some unfortunate clashes with the world, Henriette realizes she is able to stand on her own.

Liv Ulmann's directorial debut also had her co-authoring the screenplay (with poet Peter Poulsen) as based on a Henri Nathansen's 1932 novel about an affluent late 19th century Jewish merchant family in Copenhagen. Ulmann focuses on strong-willed daughter Sofie's progress through life: a love affair with a gentile painter, an arranged marriage , childbirth and ever more fateful challenges.

Ullabella is a dreamy teenager who is in love with her teacher. But one day, when she refuses to do as he says, he slaps her. Ullabella tells her family about it, and then the case begins. Ullabella's mother and uncle, who is a politician, take the case all the way to the political level and demand at least an apology from the teacher. He refuses to give one, but a solution to the case is found nonetheless.

The king's presence, his courtier Poul Flemming, who loves Elisabeth Munk, is to be the king's deputy at the wedding. However, the king hears rumors that the sheriff Albert Ebbesen has often been seen at Elverhøj with an elf girl, and when Ebbesen now arrives, he must explain away his secret meetings with the elf girl to the king.

When Møller Jakob Clausen of "Højmøllen" sits at his wife's deathbed, he makes her promise that if he marries again, he will choose a woman who will be good to their little son, Hans. And in motherly care for her little son, the dying wife mentions the forester's gentle and kind sister, Hanne, who will surely be able to become both a faithful wife for the miller and a good mother for Hans.

In this wry comedy, the self-deceiving exploits of Lasse (Peter Hesse Overgaard), are shown, as he more or less innocently runs small cons on the people in his life, all the while sponging off of his girlfriend in a bohemian quarter of Copenhagen. He is a no-count, but fairly handsome young stud who imagines that he is some sort of art promoter, or is perhaps even a video artist himself.

The young siblings at the Hejrenæs estate, Vibeke and Hans-Henrik, have always gotten along well, so Hans-Henrik decides to celebrate his sister's 21st birthday with a big party at the estate. During the party, the siblings' childhood friend, Ulla, provokes an engagement with Hans-Henrik, and at the same party, Vibeke learns that she is "only" an adopted child. From that day on, Vibeke realizes that she is in love with Hans-Henrik, and suddenly the stage is set for a sharp conflict between Ulla and Vibeke.

A picture of the life of the Danish people from the late 1820s to the introduction of the free constitution in 1849. A fictional character, Rasmus Nielsen, travels around the country, first as a traveling teacher, later in other positions, and through his experiences we are introduced to the conditions of various population groups. The central figure in the portrayal of historical figures is the politician Orla Lehmann.
