On the banks of the Ardèche, near Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, kayakers find the body of the museum president of a recently discovered Paleolithic cave. A 40,000-year-old carved stone was embedded in his neck. To investigate, Captain Manon Ferret-Duval of the research section teams up with her counterpart Riad Lekcir. They must overcome a shared past: she is convinced that her partner's older brother is responsible for the murder of her parents in 1994. Riad has no doubt that Kamel, now deceased, is innocent.

Anna, a young single mother from a modest background, marries Guillaume, a brilliant surgeon from a well-known middle-class family in Marseille. She couldn't be happier. Then Guillaume's ex-wife's body is found and he becomes the prime suspect.

Soon his father allows a refugee family of Polish Jews to move into the basement. Francois has a terrible crush upon their daugther. Real trouble begins when a Nazi commander and his unit also move into the house, totally unaware of the refugees living below them.

A once-famous chef tries to find reconciliation with his hotel manager daughter, only to be mistaken for a tourist guide critic.
