1866. The Habsburg monarchy fight a war against the Italians and the Prussians. General Klapka, who emigrated to England after the fall of the 1848-49 freedom fight of Hungary, exploits the situation and organises a Hungarian legion with the help of the Prussians, then attacking the Austrians in their back sets out to return to Hungary.

A country theatre wants to stage the historical play of the opposition author, who is famous abroad but it is well known, that he is fatally ill. The ministry unexpectedly bans the premier. The author is not informed about the decision and he wants - before his death - the costume rehearsal of the play. The director and his actors set up a false rehearsal at the price of a long night's tedious job.

A young female interpreter meets her former great love, who now lives abroad and is married, yet she is completely convinced that there is still a chance for a fresh start.

On the main square of Halmaz a naked sculpture of a boy is unveiled. The editor-in-chief of the local paper launches an attack against the scandalous implementation of "bourgeois pornography". The youth of the town, among them Ancsa, daughter of the editor decide to co-operate against the general sole-licking and prudery.

When the boy dances with the girl in the pub of the miners, he is recognised and knocked down.

In December 1956 there is a chaotic situation in Hungary. The revolution is put down by the Soviet army. People leave the country in large numbers for fear of revenge. Examining magistrate Sévigné wants to make a career in Paris, mainly at the urging of his wife. She is assigned to investigate a murder case, the victim was a maid, the accused was the maid. The examining magistrate, against his orders, believes in her innocence and starts a thorough investigation. The interrogations reveal who the real murderer is.

Kata, in her 20s, loses her boyfriend and her job on the same day. She's been indulging in fantasies of a more thrilling romantic life, and the cold water of being alone and unemployed doesn't entirely dampen her imagination. She's egged on by three girlfriends who get together to talk about men and sex. Kata has possibilities: she meets David, a medical student; there's Tamás, a stranger on a train who might be good for a relationship and a job. The corrupt leaders of a small rural town learn that an auditor is coming from St Petersburg. Frightened, they try to put things in order. Hlesztakov, a Petersburg official, has been starving for days in his inn in the small town, having gambled away all his money and no credit. In a misunderstanding and a bit of backstabbing, the town's corrupt leaders mistake him for an auditor. The bureau chiefs are watching his every move, and the mayor's daughter is a hit. When he leaves, the whole town celebrates and expects him back for a wedding. But a letter reveals the fraud, and at the same time the real auditor arrives.

Miklós Mészöly's short novel Film aims to show the last few hours of an elderly couple's life. The last moments of two people who, in the midst of historical storms, inhumanity and loss of values, remained together in the strange grip of love and dependence. The most moving is the formulation of the fundamental question: can we and can we say goodbye with dignity, how much we are lost and vulnerable when we set off into the unknown.

Richter, Gál and Bakos have stolen valuable paintings from a museum. During their escape, however, they accidentally exchange the black suitcase containing the booty for another. The hunting after the paintings starts.

The story, which was motivated by the Spanish flu epidemy in 1918, goes about total helplessness. In a non-identifiable country at the beginning of the century an organisation kidnaps a doctor from his apartment and alongside with several others transports him into a camp.

Pocok is a seventh grader and the youngest member of his brother's gang. The gang of teenagers wants to buy a motorcycle. They borrow one while they collect the money. Pocok also wants to ride a motorcycle, but they won't let him. His brother and his friends commit a crime, and Pocok gets involved against his will.
