Caring for an autistic adult can be seen as an act of faith. It is unpredictable. A regular interaction can lead to a violent lashing-out. However, due to its lack of exposition and its pure form of observation, the film captures something even more profound: life as a collection of failure, pain, and tragedy as felt by its protagonist, Chen Hung-tung, a father who cares with extraordinary patience for his autistic son Li-fu.

After his pregnant wife Yi-ting unexpectedly committed suicide, Ming decides to take care of his father-in-law, only to find out the unbearable truth of Yi-ting’s family that leads to her death.

10+10 is a project initiated by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival to demonstrate the solidarity between Taiwanese film-makers. 20 directors are invited to make a 5-minute short film each on the theme of the “Uniqueness of Taiwan,” but allowed total freedom in all other aspects.

When Yesterday Comes takes the route of a compendium of four shorts by different directors.

But in 2019, after undergoing surgery for the first time in his life, he became acutely aware of time. Suddenly, his lifelong rhythm of exploration faced an unavoidable limit. His final, unfinished expedition—will it be the closing chapter of his journey, or the start of something new? This documentary observes a man who has always sought the core of nature, now faced with the reality of his own mortality. As he embarks on one last great adventure, the film also captures how the filmmaking team, through their own journeys, begins to question their relationship with nature and their understanding of life itself.

I rarely see or speak to my own father. Old images, which have an independent, fictional time, intimately occupy my and my father’s consciousness or memories. After nearly 30 years of this frozen relationship, I look forward to using film to document this ‘time’, which becomes a concrete and direct journey when it radiates through a world filled with real emotions.

I-Ling is a young professional moving to another country for work. Saying goodbye to friends is hard, but it is hardest going back to family for a goodbye. The past is shocking, the future is uncertain. Among the coming and going she is suspended by a thin thread of identity.

Known as ‘Pa Nana’, a celebrated Latin singer in 1950s–60s Taiwan, Kao Chu-hua supported her family through nightclub performances after her father’s execution during the White Terror. Drawing on family testimonies and newly declassified archives, the film reconstructs her life under state surveillance, revealing survival beneath authoritarian rule and enforced silence.

Moody, atmospheric ghost story starring Mason as a retired tradesman who purchases an old mansion that has been vacant for 40 years because it is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a young woman who had died there. Unaware of the mansion's reputation, Mason and his wife Mullen move in and hire a young woman, Lockwood, to keep house. Soon after Lockwood's arrival, strange things begin to happen in the household, and it becomes apparent that she is possessed by the spirit of the dead girl, though Mason scoffs at the idea. On death's door and bedridden, Lockwood asks for the same doctor who treated the woman who died 40 years ago. He arrives and treats her. The next morning Lockwood is cured, and it is revealed by the police that the doctor's dead body was found in his carriage hours before the time Mason claims he arrived to see Lockwood. Convinced that not only the ghost of the girl but that of the doctor as well entered his home, Mason finally believes in the supernatural.

Liuqiu, a tiny island on the outskirt of the Taiwan Strait, which means ‘floating ball’. Surrounded by more floating balls—’hotels-on-the-sea’ where Chinese fishermen stay. The film depict fate, humanity and destiny of these floating balls.
