Ulrike, recently single, left her job to find new purpose. Jochen, an insurance agent, aims for a stable job to afford his own place. Despite their different paths, they all strive for meaning and love amidst temporary challenges.

Henriette is terminally ill with cancer. Since her diagnosis, contact with her sister Gerlinde has fizzled out. It is only when she talks to the open-minded pastor Linus Gobert that she begins to accept her fate and gets closer to her sister again. But before she can tell Gerlinde about her illness, she is shot dead in the street. Gerlinde, the only witness to the crime, doubts that it was a robbery.

Nina and Karl are a perfectly normal, crazy couple. They can't live with or without each other. But suddenly, Nina can no longer stand the routine and decides to run away. She wants to be somebody else, though not (yet) an adult. The unfamiliar loneliness also affects Karl. Nina, meanwhile, doesn't seem to be able to get rid of Karl quite so easily.
