As a young runner prepares for the big race, the strain from his parents' push for excellence puts his love of the sport to test.

Antonio, a young man with a modest job in a small town, leads a monotonous existence until he is transferred to Barcelona to work in an architecture studio. From that moment, a new life opens before his eyes. He befriends Lorenzo, one of his classmates. Lorenzo is more experienced than Antonio and shows him a new, more sophisticated life in which Antonio feels out of place. Also, Antonio falls in love with Lorenzo's sister.

Mrs. Lucha, an old woman from a poor village, discovers a magical tree which blooms bread instead of fruits. Carried away by greed, she sells the bread to the townsfolk, unleashing a story in which the small community's true nature is laid bare.

When washed-out, has-been actor Francisco, finds out that his ex-wife is about to remarry and take their daughter to live abroad, he'll manipulate everyone around him to stop the wedding and get his family back.
