An imposter and thief called Dumpling escapes prison and arrives to a respectable institute of doctor Strukl in Balm Sanatorium. The doctor is a specialist for reduction and gaining of weight, and wanted by many celebrities, especially because it is known that he has specialized in Switzerland. Dumpling, discovering that he is physically similar to doctor, and seeing his big chance in it, disables the doctor and takes his place at the sanatorium.

He wants to have a father by his own choice, not his mother's. It seems that the teacher suits most of the boy's idea of a father. And the boy gains what he always wants.

Being an apprentice and a master of such craft is of vital importance. This is about speaking. The orator’s profession can be useful at work, but in the family it has all the negative consequences.

A story of a farmer and his calf, the only survivors of the German WW2 punitive expeditions that passed through their village. While evading before the dangers of war, the farmer develops a deep attachment to his calf and tries to save it at all costs, but it wouldn't be much easier for them even after the liberation day.

The story published in 1921 follows Corkan, general scapegoat in Visegrad, a figure of fun who himself joins in the mockery. The object of his obsession is physically inaccessible: a tightrope walker in an Austrian circus company visiting Visegrad.

A writer is astonished to see the characters from his story come to life. However, the situation complicates when he tries to deal with his creations.
