In light of the lack of opportunities in the big city, a pair of inseparable friends decides to rob a supermarket, not knowing the price they will have to pay for doing so.

A filmic reflection on the way in which cinema taught us to live romantic love during the 20th century, building an impossible ideal within our personal relationships. Cinema taught viewers how they had to see it, worse, it showed directors how they had to film it. Based on quotations from early cinema films, Contar el amor discusses the role of sex and violence as central themes in our increasingly broad but, at the same time, less pluralistic audiovisual universe.

Love, passion and madness are found in this film packed with intrigue, tension and suspicion. Juan, an obsessive photographer who lives an isolated life, decides to take his wife and son with him to the Argentinean Patagonia. There he discovers that his wife has been unfaithful, and when he realizes she is willing to abandon him to restart her life, his criminal mind awakens leading to startling and unexpected events. A film filled with romance, suspense and dangerous obsessions.

A distinguished writer declares in an interview that he should die consumed by flames, but he actually dies without any identification. An assistant coroner and a woman photographer kidnap the body to fake his suicide. The case is assigned to a judicial policeman who is oppressed by the deaths that sorround him.
